The corresponding author, who lived in the apartment with five other residents for a year, examined the spatial adequacy of both private and communal areas through first-hand observation. The research evaluates physical and psycho-social user needs, mapping how circulation, privacy, and function intersect in co-living settings. Key findings reveal how reprogrammed architectural heritage can serve modern needs, and how design can better reflect diverse user expectations. Offering an evidence-based, user-centered framework, the project proposes design strategies for architects and developers to create coliving spaces that are affordable, inclusive, and spatially intelligent—particularly for young adults navigating dense urban contexts and temporary lifestyles.
