Why London Is the Perfect Stage for the 6th Edition of Coliving Awards

The Coliving Awards 2026 Ceremony will be hosted in London, United Kingdom for the first time - understand why we chose it.

Every city tells a story.

Some are known for history. Others for innovation. A select few manage to shape the future while honouring the past. London has long been one of those cities - a place where ideas, investment, and global talent converge.

On 14th October, the city will welcome the global coliving community as it hosts the 6th edition of the Coliving Awards, crossing the threshold into the second half of the decade. But London is more than just the backdrop to the ceremony. It represents something much bigger - the continued evolution of shared living and the industry's growing influence on the future of housing.

As industry professionals and thought leaders gather under one roof, the Coliving Awards become more than an evening of celebration. It becomes a reflection of where the industry is today - and where it is heading next.

Where Global Housing Innovation Meets Opportunity

London has always been a city that adapts.

Faced with rising housing demand, changing lifestyles, and an increasingly mobile workforce, it has become one of the world's leading testing grounds for alternative living models. Coliving has moved from a niche concept to an established part of its housing landscape - driven by demand for flexibility, community, and professionally managed living experiences.

The numbers tell the story. By 2025, the UK had around 11.400 operational coliving beds, with 73% of that stock delivered since 2022. London remains the country’s largest coliving market, accounting for around 55% of operational supply. And the pipeline is growing - a further 16.000 beds received planning permission, with another 7.200 in the planning process.

Demand continues to outpace supply. Industry research estimates a potential demand pool of around 600.000 residents in London, while the city currently offers only a fraction of that capacity.

But London's significance extends beyond the scale of its own market. Its position as an international hub makes it a natural meeting point for a coliving sector that is increasingly global.

The 2026 Coliving Awards reflect this shift. This year, we received over 70 applications from 21 countries across 5 continents. From established coliving markets to emerging destinations, this year's entries showcase just how far the sector has evolved - and how many different forms innovation in coliving can take.

The diversity of this year's applications also highlights why London is such a fitting host city. The ideas shaping coliving today are no longer coming from just one market or one type of organisation. They are emerging from a global network of operators, developers, investors, designers, and service and technology providers, each responding to the unique needs of their residents and cities.

This momentum makes London the ideal place to celebrate excellence. It is a city where new concepts are launched, operational models are refined, partnerships are formed, and industry standards continue to evolve.

A Thriving International Coliving Community with UK at its Core

Coliving has never been confined to a single market. From established hubs in Europe to rapidly emerging markets across Asia, the Middle East, Oceania, and the Americas, the sector is evolving in different ways around the world - shaped by local housing challenges, demographics, investment landscapes, and changing expectations of what we can get from housing.

The United Kingdom has consistently played a leading role in shaping the global coliving conversation. From pioneering operators and ambitious developers to technology providers and investors, the British coliving ecosystem has helped define best practices that are now being adopted around the world.

This international influence has been reflected in the Coliving Awards.

19 UK-based organisations have been recognised as winners throughout the history of the Coliving Awards, demonstrating the country's continued commitment to innovation, resident experience, and operational excellence. These winners represent more than individual success stories. They showcase the diversity of the UK's ecosystem - from established operators scaling internationally to emerging concepts challenging conventional housing models.

As one of the world's most internationally connected cities and the UK's most established coliving market, London provides a meeting point between the local and the global. Hosting this year’s Awards Ceremony in London places these achievements in the context they deserve and welcomes the global industry to experience one of its most influential markets firsthand.

Recognition Creates Momentum

Awards matter because they create visibility.

Recognition validates years of hard work, attracts talent, strengthens brands and builds trust with investors, partners and residents alike.

But their impact extends beyond the winners.

Every shortlisted project becomes an example that others can learn from. Every finalist raises the benchmark for the industry. Every ceremony celebrates not only individual organisations, but the collective progress of coliving as a sector.

As the industry continues to mature, recognising excellence becomes increasingly important. The Coliving Awards provide a platform where innovation is celebrated, ideas are exchanged, and achievements inspire the next generation of projects.

There is no better setting for that conversation than London.

More Than an Awards Ceremony

The Coliving Awards take place within the official Coliving Conference programme, bringing together hundreds of professionals from across the global shared living industry.

From 14th -15th October, London becomes a meeting point for decision-makers shaping the future of shared living.

Operators connect with investors.

Technology companies meet future clients.

Developers discover new partners.

Architects exchange ideas with community builders.

Policy conversations sit alongside practical case studies.

The Coliving Awards is one highlight within a much larger ecosystem of collaboration, making them uniquely positioned to generate visibility that extends well beyond a single evening.

A Unique Opportunity for One Brand

As the industry gathers in London, one opportunity remains available.

The Coliving Awards is looking for a Main (Ceremony) Sponsor - a brand that will stand alongside the industry's premier global awards programme dedicated exclusively to coliving.

This is not simply a logo placement.

It is an opportunity to become part of the industry's story.

The Main Sponsor will be positioned at the centre of the celebration, with visibility before, during and after the Awards. Your brand will be featured across both our digital and physical touchpoints, recognised throughout the ceremony, and associated with the people and organisations defining the future of shared living.

When winners step onto the stage, your brand will be there - and you will be up on that stage as well, handing out awards.

When photos, videos and announcements are shared around the world, your brand will be there.

When the global coliving community looks back on our 6th edition in London, your organisation will be remembered as the organisation that helped make it possible.
